Comprehensive channel assessment

We undertake comprehensive channel assessment to help our clients identify the underlying processes that drive river behaviour. Our assessments identify sensitive river reaches, the triggers that initiate channel disturbance within a watershed, and project the long-term response and recovery of a channel. We use results of a channel assessment to identify and evaluate cumulative effects of land management practices on hillslopes and in riparian areas and the relative importance of natural disturbance events characteristic of a watershed.

Watershed and channel disturbance may include:

  • landslide
  • flood
  • wildfire
  • insect infestation
  • resource development

Our channel assessments help our clients reduce uncertainty and unravel the confounding influence of resource development, natural disturbance, and watershed history.
